Act Boons replace and expand the original game's Neow blessing system. At the start of each Act, you encounter an ancient NPC who offers a choice of powerful boons โ€” giving you meaningful power spikes throughout the entire run, not just at the beginning.

How It Works

When They Appear

An Act Boon NPC appears at the entrance of each Act (Acts 1, 2, 3, and 4). You choose one boon from a selection of 3โ€“4 options before entering the Act.

Boon Types

Boons range from card rewards (add a rare card to your deck), to permanent stat boosts (gain 5 max HP), to run-altering effects (your next boss drops an extra relic). Each boon is tailored to the current Act's difficulty.

Trade-off Boons

Some of the most powerful boons come with a cost โ€” remove 2 cards from your deck, lose 10 max HP, or start the next Act with 1 less energy. These high-risk boons can define a run.

Alternate Acts

Certain boon choices unlock Alternate Acts โ€” modified versions of standard Acts with different enemies, events, and rewards. Alternate Acts are harder but offer better loot.

Tips

  • โ–ธEarly Acts: prioritize boons that fix deck weaknesses (card removal, key cards).
  • โ–ธLate Acts: prioritize stat boons (max HP, relic slots) that scale into the final boss.
  • โ–ธTrade-off boons are worth it if you're already strong โ€” don't take them when struggling.
  • โ–ธAlternate Act boons are high-risk, high-reward โ€” only take them if your deck can handle harder enemies.

Some Act Boons grant Enchantments, making them doubly valuable for card-focused builds.

Act Boons are the primary way to unlock Alternate Acts for better loot.

Boons that grant extra relic slots or bonus relics compound with strong relic synergies.
